As great as many of the trends on TikTok may be, there are a few that may appear strange or at the very least unexpected.
The Ankha Zone movement definitely belongs in the second category, but it has nevertheless overrun TikTok.
The viral video involves Ankha, an Egyptian cat from the Animal Crossing video games, and her dancing to some catchy music.
However, in reality, the trend has a deeper NSFW origin.
Who Is Ankha from Animal Crossing?
Ankha is a character from the Animal Crossing video game series. If you’re not familiar with it, she’s an islander in the Animal Crossing world.
Apparently, her name is derived from the Egyptian hieroglyphic character that means “life.” Given her Egyptian heritage, this isn’t surprising.
Ankha appears in every game except Wild World, Animal Forest and Pocket Camp.
Ankha TikTok Video Origin Explained
The trend originated from an NSFW video, featuring Animal Crossing’s Ankha on Twitter.
The video was uploaded back in February but, only now has it gone viral with over 2M views.
Credited to a Twitter user with the handle @ZONE, another content creator who reuploaded the explicit animation.
The two-minute-long clip sees the Animal Crossing islander engage in s*xual activity to a background music track.
While we can’t post the original video due it’s explicit nature, the original video is circulating Twitter with the hashtags #ankhazone and #AnkhaZoneOriginalVideo
To get around the NSFW element TikTokers have also been cropping the video and cutting out the adult content to avoid getting banned.
However, the reality is – Ankha the Cat isn’t dancing in the TikTok videos, she’s doing something else…
